With over 2500 animals to be fed each day, it is very important to have a TMR mixer that is large enough to minimize the number of loads we make and still capable of small batches without sacrificing mix quality. The mixer must be reliable, easy to use, requires minimum horsepower and is easily started under load. We found all of this in a Trioliet Solomix 2, 3200 VLK T.  We make numerous 24,000-28,000 pound loads a day. Time to mix is minimal, the mix is consistent, and distribution is even and fast through the chain conveyor. Our Nutritionalist says we should be proud of our mix; it is very consistent between loads and from start to finish. No matter where the cow eats, she gets the same mix.

We really like the Shiftronic Automatic 3-speed gearbox! It allows us to keep our tractor rpm’s down while mixing that saves fuel and wear and tear on the equipment. During unloading, the feeder starts a full mixer at just above idle, then selects the gear for ground speed, increases the engine rpm then drives the entire length of the barn. At the end, the mixer is empty and he has put down an even pile of feed from one end of the barn to the other. The wide conveyor allows him to place the feed close to the headlocks without running over any feed with the tires. The Shiftronic was an expensive option, but we are certainly glad we have it.

The Trioliet is a very well built machine that provides us with a good consistent mix; it’s easy to use and requires far less horsepower than our previous machine. The TMR is one of the most critical pieces of equipment on the dairy, we rely on it everyday to make a good mix and be reliable. We are glad we invested in a Trioliet!
